Siminoi Cotton

Siminoi Cotton

Siminoi actually was a weave made in the Dhenkanal region of Odisha. Over time, the weaving families have perished and this is not being made anymore there. So, as a revival project, these are being made in the Nuapatna cluster. The characteristic of Siminoi is the ek-phuliya border and the rectangle-shaped temples which are not found in other Odisha weaves.

Siminoi has a very simple and elegant pallu with straight lines. Also, it has arrow mark triangles as butis at gaps. It has characteristic '|||' symbols marking the two sides of the flower butis on the anchal.
