INTRODUCTION
Utkalamrita, the premium brand of Sabat Exports Private Limited, based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was co-founded by two women entrepreneurs- the Sabat Sisters- Dr. Anita Sabat and Amrita Sabat. Incorporated on May 11, 2015, it commenced its business operations by the divine grace and blessings of Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannatha on the auspicious Nabakalebara Ratha Jatra – Naba Jaubana Darsana day on 17 July, 2015.

Sabat Exports Private Limited, and premium brand, Utkalamrita, deals with – Handlooms, Textiles, and readymade garments, Cuttack Silver Filigree (Rupa Tarakasi), Tribal jewellery, Dhokra, Pattachitra, Pipli Applique Work, Ikat Decor etc.
Sincere efforts are on to promote the best quality and highly innovative local and traditional handicrafts, handlooms, spices, jewellery, foodstuffs etc from the land of ‘exquisite arts’ or ‘Utkarsha Kala’ i.e. Utkala or Odisha.
Aims & Objectives-

- Help support local arts, crafts, and artisans, and revive traditional designs/products so that they survive and thrive.

- Extend branding and marketing support to micro and small units of Odisha, helping in promotion to expand their markets globally.

Family Background & History
The two women Directors of Sabat Exports, Dr. Anita Sabat and Amrita Sabat, are sisters belonging to a reputed business-family that has been in the Turmeric business for over 80 years. They are the grand-daughters of Shri Abhimanyu Sabat, also known as the ‘King of Turmeric’. They are the great-great-grand-daughters of Late Shri Kalu Sabat, who initially started the turmeric trade in Berhampur in Ganjam, Odisha in 1930s coming from Saru, a village 15 km away from Berhampur. They are the daughters of Shri A.K.Sabat, Chartered Accountant. Keeping the flag high of Sabat family’s business ethics and principles, these daughters strive to further the family’s name and fame through Sabat Exports Pvt. Ltd.
Managing Director’s Profile
Our Managing Director, Amrita Sabat, has done her Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering from College of Engineering & Technology (CET) and MBA from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). A zonal and Odisha state topper in the Std-X CBSE Board Examination, Amrita was invited by the President to witness the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi in 2002. She was one of the national winners of the Pepsi Change the Game contest and witnessed all of India’s World Cup 2011 matches live in the stadiums. Amrita has worked with Wipro in Hyderabad and Chennai, and Fidelity Investments in Bangalore. Amrita Sabat had connected the Sambalpuri Bandha Saree named- Sree Ganeet i.e. Maths Saree- that was worn by actress Vidya Balan for the "Shakuntala Devi" movie e-promotion.
Director’s Profile
Our Director, Dr. Anita Sabat, has done her BSc. (Chemistry Hons.) from B.J.B. College, Bhubaneswar; PGDMM from The Times School of Marketing, New Delhi; MA, MPhil and PhD. from the Dept of Public Administration, Utkal University. Dr. Anita has worked in Mumbai and Kolkata with software companies like Tata Interactive Systems (TIS) etc. Dr. Anita is called the "Rasagola Lady" as she first proposed and initiated #RasagolaDibasa (Rasgulla Day) in social media in 2015, thereby sparking Rasgulla debate, discussion and research. Representing community interests and the Geographical Indications (GIs) of Odisha, she spearheaded the Odisha Rasagola GI tag. She has inspired and facilitated many GI Authorised User applications and ensured correct GI representation, and is called the "GI Woman of Odisha".
Landmarks
-> For FY 15-16, the Sabat Sisters took part in five international exhibitions (including Singapore, China, Malaysia, Australia), one major international event held at Ahmedabad in Feb 2016- World Spices Congress, and one local fair on Women’s Day 2016.
-> In FY 16-17, they took part in four major international exhibitions (again including Singapore, Malaysia) and several domestic fairs (mostly at Mumbai, Delhi etc).
-> FY 17-18 marked their debut at Kunming International Trade Fair (the biggest consumer fair in the world) and two more fairs at Singapore along with succesful domestic exhibition at Goa.
-> In 18-19, again they went for international fairs at Singapore & Malaysia multiple times, and won the State Export Award for Handlooms for year 2018-19.
-> Post-Covid, their international exhibition was in Singapore in July 2022. Amrita Sabat had sent the now-famous Sree Ganeet Mathematics Sambalpuri Silk Saree to Vidya Balan, who wore it for Shakuntala Devi movie's e-promotion in 2020.
-> Amrita sabat held four exhibitions in the USA and connected with many during her month-long trip and participation in the OSA Conference and radio-show in July, 2024.
-> Dr. Anita Sabat has been representing Odisha GIs in GI exhibitions from 2018 onwards, including representation in three GI Pavilions organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce in national fairs and events like the India International Trade Fair (IITF) in Delhi in 2018 & 2022, and Global Exhibition of Services (GES) in Bengaluri in 2019.
-> Sabat Exports became the first Authorised User (AU) of 'Orissa Ikat' GI Tag in 2019 and the Part-B certificate was granted by the Ministry of Commerce, Govt of India.
-> They have directly and indirectly inspired many students, creators, producers, entrepreneurs, startups, and businesses.
-> They established the "World's first Odisha Handloom GI Store" in October 2022.
-> They have now set up the "World's First Odisha GI Store" in- 2nd Floor, 75, Janpath, Master Canteen Area, Bhubaneswar- 751001. This Utkalamrita new store was inaugurated on July 4, 2025, by the Speaker of Odisha State Assembly, Smt. Surama Padhy Madam.
