STUNNING STONE SCULPTURES OF ODISHA!

Odisha is the land of stunning stone sculptures. Stone craftsmen here have carved awesome sculptures since time immemorial. This is seen in the glorious Kalingan architecture of our temples, superb Buddhist heritage sites and also as individual sculptures which are revered around the world.

The famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Konark Sun Temple is called ‘Poetry in Stone’. No doubt.

More sculptures are being excavated everyday- proof of the fact that Kalinga or Odisha has been a thriving Buddhist centre from which Buddhism spread far and wide thanks to her brave sailors, kings and people. Even Chandasoka – the evil Asoka, transformed into Dharmasoka or Asoka the Great after the Kalinga War and was the biggest proponent of Buddhism after that.
