Crafted using the timeless Sambalpuri Bandha (Ikat) technique, this dupatta celebrates the rich weaving heritage of Western Odisha. According to the GI (Geographical Indications) documentation, the art of tie-and-dye weaving in the region dates back to around 600 BC. In this intricate process, the yarns are carefully tied and dyed before weaving, creating striking patterns with exceptional precision. Depending on the design, either the warp or weft is tie-dyed (single ikat), or both are dyed prior to weaving (double ikat).

Handwoven on traditional pit looms using the throw/fly shuttle technique, Sambalpuri textiles are crafted by the skilled Meher weaving community across Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Sambalpur, and parts of Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda.

This dupatta features the iconic Pasapali motif, one of the most celebrated Sambalpuri patterns. Inspired by Pasa, the ancient game of dice mentioned in the Mahabharata, the distinctive checkerboard design symbolizes tradition, strategy, and timeless elegance.

Lightweight, breathable, and effortlessly graceful, this Sambalpuri Bandha dupatta is a versatile accessory that adds a touch of heritage to both ethnic and contemporary ensembles. Perfect for the summer season and equally elegant throughout the year, it is a beautiful blend of Odisha's rich craftsmanship and modern style.
