Pattachitra is a traditional, cloth- and palm-leaf-based scroll painting style rooted in the eastern Indian states of Odisha.. The name comes from the Sanskrit words patta (canvas) and chitra (picture). Famed for vibrant natural colors, intricate borders, and mythological tales, it is one of India's oldest living art forms.
After Snana Purnima, deities fall ill. At that time, instead of the idols (who are in the Anasara Ghara for recuperation) the Patti Dian are worshipped. This is a painting of Shree Jagannath as Ananta Narayan, who is worshipped in this form as Patti Dian (a pattachitra painting) during the Anasara period. A most arrestingly beautiful painting- a must have for home or office!
